Ehiwarior Harps On Competence As Anyia Is Sworn In As LEA Secretary
Ika South Local Government Chairman, Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior, has emphasised the prioritization of competence as a necessary requirement for filling public positions.
The Chairman said this Thursday, during the swearing of the newly appointed Secretary of the Ika South Local Government Area, Local Education Authority, LEA, Comrade Mathew Anyia, in his office at Agbor.
He disclosed that the administration was very meticulous in the selection process, considering the sensitive nature of the office in contention which required a competent hand to man it.
In his words, “we felt that in taking the final decision on who occupied the Office of LEA Secretary, there was the need to be circumspect and ensure the right candidate emerged. And that has led to Comrade Anyia being sworn in today.”
While expressing confidence in the capacity of the new LEA Secretary to drive the process that would boost the education sector in Ika South due to his years of experience, the Chairman urged teachers in the local government area to give maximum support to the LEA Secretary.
“As an administration, we are resolved to make Ika South work for the benefit of residents. Therefore, we must take issues that concern the education of our children very seriously.
“Everyone of us should see ourselves as critical stakeholders in the building and development of Ika South Local Government Area,” he stated.
While thanking the people for their support and encouragement for the administration in the last 10 months, Engr. Ehiwarior maintained that every decision and action by the government would continue to be guided by the fear of God and the interest of the people.
Earlier, Comrade Mathew Chima Anyia, who tagged his emergence as, ‘victory for all’, said he was not unmindful of the responsibility thrust upon him by the new assignment given to him.
He thanked the Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, the immediate past Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, Ika South Chairman, Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior, the Dein of Agbor Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Dr. Benjamin Ikenchukwu, CON, Mr. Frank Anumele, CEO, Well Spring Assets and Investment Ltd, and other leaders and stakeholders in the local government area, for their inputs in his emergence as LEA Secretary.
Comrade Anyia specifically appreciated the Local Government Chairman for donating a plot of land to Ika South NUT for the building of their secretariat in Agbor.
He assured of his preparedness to enthrone dedication and integrity in the teaching profession in Ika South.
Also, Hon. Isaac Ulebor, disclosed that the entire Emuhu community was happy and grateful to Ika South Local Government Chairman for the role he played in the emergence of Anyia as LEA Secretary.
