The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested three individuals in Abuja over their alleged involvement in a Q-net scam and the awarding of fake university degrees.
The suspects — Olaniyan Joshua, Oyetunde Julius Akano, and Victor Oluwale — were apprehended on Wednesday, May 1, 2025, and are currently undergoing interrogation.
According to the EFCC, the trio operated under the company name Mighty Infinity Millionaire Limited and falsely presented themselves as representatives of Q-net, an international e-commerce and direct selling firm. Q-net has publicly disavowed any connection to the suspects or their activities.
Further investigations revealed the suspects were also operating an illegal university, offering bogus Bachelor of Science degrees in Medicine, Nursing, Cybersecurity, Computer Studies, and Geology. Classes were reportedly held in makeshift venues — including under trees — with the fraudsters claiming affiliation with Quest International University, Malaysia.
Victims were allegedly charged registration fees ranging from ₦1.2 million to ₦1.3 million, allowing the group to amass hundreds of millions of naira.
The arrests are a follow-up to a March 24, 2025, EFCC raid on a site labeled “Q-net University” in Compensation Layout, Gwagwalada, Abuja, where 133 individuals were detained.
