Delta Begins Sale of Subsidized FG Rice To Its Workers

The official sale by the Delta State Government of a consignment of rice subsidized by the Federal Government is to begin in Asaba on Monday, May 5.
It is strictly to be sold to worker on the payroll of the state government.
The consignment is in packs of 50 kilogrammes and each is to cost N40,000.
The going cost of N40,000 per bag implies a subsidy of roughly a little above the same amount, going by the prevailing market price of about N100,000 for the same measure of quality locally grown rice.
A circular to this effect was issued by the office of the Head of the State Civil Service.
The circular said inter alia:”Kindly be informed that the above excerise commences from Monday 5th to 22nd May, 2025 at Professor Chike Edozien Secretariat.”
It added, ‘Please, note that Officers are requested to come with their National Identification Number (NIN) and a funded bank ATM Card. All Directors of Administration are requested to call the following numbers for their MDA’s Allocation and further inquiry, please.
