The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Etteh Ibas (Rtd.), has firmly refuted social media reports that he summoned suspended Governor Sim Fubara and his deputy, Prof. Ngozi Nma Odu for a meeting on April 18, 2025.
In an official statement issued by Permanent Secretary from the Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Sir Dede Sampson Friday, the administration labeled the reports as false, misleading, and intended to create panic and disrupt peace in Rivers State.
The government clarified that no such directive was issued and condemned the announcement as completely fabricated. Citizens were urged to disregard the claim and any similar misinformation, which the government believes are efforts by troublemakers to destabilize the State.
To prevent the spread of fake news, the public was advised to rely solely on official communication platforms, such as:
- The Rivers State Government website: www.riversstate.gov.ng

The government emphasized the importance of verifying all information before spreading and called for unity and calm in the face of political tension.
